Rev. Sato is the Pastor of Fukushima First Bible Baptist Church. The church, located within a 5km radius of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, was closed temporarily due to the nuclear accidents. He evacuated together with the parishioners and some residents in the neighborhood. After the long journey of approximately 700km, he returned to Fukushima and built a new chapel in Iwaki City, 70km south of their hometown where the contamination still prevents them from returning. The chapel stands facing towards their hometown with a wing on both sides, which looks like a bird flying back home.
