Ms. Takano is chairperson of the Haramachi Catholic Church Parish Committee in Mimanisoma city, Fukushima prefecture. A former primary school teacher. She set up a volunteer group “Concordia” at Haramachi Church. The group offers handicraft programs and delivers free vegetables to evacuees living in temporary housing in the city.
